See the flier below for more information and we will provide additional details in the coming weeks.
- Kenan Fellows STEMwork team Funding is available for a Kenan Fellows STEMwork team in Durham Public Schools. This is a $10,000 value for free to educators in Wake, Durham, Chatham, and Lee County. Any K-12 educator in any subject area is welcome to join.
- STEMwork Details:
- Educators who participate in this program will be connected with local industry partners in these four counties for ½ or full day summer immersion experiences to learn about the local industries and workforce skills that they can bring back to their students.
- Educators will also have access to 8 asynchronous online modules that teach everything needed to know about project-based learning (“PBL”) connected to local industries to help bring relevant learning back to students. Scholars will have access to the online course from June 2024 – May 2025. Successful completion of the course results in scholar recommendations based on NCDPI’s evaluation of the course* (8 CEUs – 5 content, 1 literacy, & 2 general). *Local LEAs make the determination of how these credits apply to renewal.
- A Kenan Fellow Alumni as a facilitator will guide the scholar’s work and provide feedback and support throughout the entire program. Please see the suggested timeline below for an idea of the structure of the program. The program modules take about 4-5 hours a month to complete.

- ELEM TEACHERS–LETRS BRIDGE TO PRACTICE UPDATE As indicated in the LETRS platform, Bridge to Practice activities are included at the end of each asynchronous unit. Participants who complete Volume 2 and wish to receive a LETRS stipend must upload one example of their Bridge to Practice work for each unit they complete–for a total of 4 examples. Teachers have two options for uploading their Bridge to Practice artifacts. Teachers should only use ONE of the platforms (Google or Canvas) to submit their Bridge to Practice artifacts for Volume 2–Units 5-8.
- Canvas Course: Using the LETRS Bridge to Practice spreadsheet, teachers may access the Canvas course to upload activities.
- Bridge to Practice Google Form: Teachers may use the Bridge to Practice Google Form.
- TACS Users
- Please be reminded to log in and out daily. Some Little River staff are not getting a full 7.5 work in. Payroll does not accept anything less than 7.5 hours/8 hours for the workday.
- TACS uses should be aware of overtime accumulation. Payroll expects that users may go as much as 30 minutes over considering duties that may linger from the work day, such as students not being picked up on time or staff may be here for meetings. Clearing overtime is especially important now because Payroll expects those remaining balances will have to be paid out at the end of the year. No Little River staff should clock out in overtime without permission.
- Homebase Maintenance Weekend The PowerSchool application will be down for maintenance beginning Friday, April 19, 2024, at 5:00 P.M. and return to service by 7:00 A.M. Monday, April 22, 2024. The application will be accessible to all users once maintenance is complete. Please share this message with other staff as appropriate. If you have any questions, please contact Priscilla Thompson.
- IT’S AUTISM ACCEPTANCE MONTH! To help support our Exceptional Children’s program a T-shirt fundraiser is underway. Find in mailbox order forms to send home with each student. Please collect from your students and return to Ms. Dickerson in room A8, send a student down if needed. We appreciate all your support.
